 So Why Polycarb?

Isn't PerspexTM / Acrylic just as good? 
 
      Polycarbonate windows have many advantages over glass and perspex alternatives. Some examples are below:
  • The weight saving is instantly noticable when glass is replaced with polycarbonate.
  • Polycarbonate is shatter resistant, unlike perspex, glass and other acrylic derivatives.
  • Polycarbonate is 250x stronger than glass and considerably stronger than Perspex

 

 

Below is a strip of 4mm polycarb crushed sideways in a vice. No heat was used to aid it bending.

 

As you can see, it has not splintered or broken, just bent and creased.

 

Safety is paramount when racing, Polycarb windows remove the risk of sharp glass or acrylic/perspex splinters coming into the car in the event of an accident. It really isn't worth the risk.

Description

Lexan Exell D sheet is a transparent polycarbonate sheet with proprietary UV protection on both sides offering excellent weathering properties.

With its excellent impact resistance, it is ideally suited to a wide variety of applications.

 

Light Transmission

Lexan Exell D sheet have excellent light transmission, between 84 and 87%.

 

UV Protection

Lexan Exell D sheet has proprietary UV protected surfaces on both sides, giving excellent durability to outdoor weathering. This superior UV resistance and toughness of Lexan Exell D sheet is backed by a 10 years limited warranty against yellowing, loss of light transmission and breakage.

 

Cleaning

For small areas wash sheet with a solution of mild soap and lukewarm water, using a soft cloth or sponge. For larger areas clean surface with a high pressure water and/or steam cleaner. Do not use abrasive cleaners or detergents or sharp instruments which may scratch.
